Sam Frist Signs With Kent State University

Also joining the major college ranks at Kent State University is former Pinecrest defensive lineman, Sam Frist of Southern Pines, who finished up his prep career at Richmond County and then Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va.

Frist is a member of the 23-man recruiting class of Golden Flashes coach Doug Martin. Martin took the job at the Mid-American Conference School last year after 11 seasons at East Carolina, most of them as the offensive coordinator.

The son of Doug and Mary Frist, he is already attending classes at the school located in Kent, Ohio.

Following his graduation at Richmond County, he attended Hargrove to improve his academic standing and also added about 30 pounds to what is now a 6-4, 256-pound frame.
