Mr. Metcalf had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
His wife, Elizabeth Anne Dorsey Metcalf, preceded him in death.
Surviving are sons, Mark Metcalf and wife Elizabeth Wick of Fox Point, Wis., Roy Metcalf of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Sarah Metcalf and Harriet Pengelley; four grandchildren, Julius, Anne, Henry and Joe.
