Local Dance Group to Perform

Sandhills Ballet Theatre (SBT) has been invited to perform at the Festival of North Carolina Dance Feb. 22-24, 2002.

This invitational event is sponsored by the North Carolina School of the Arts and is the brainchild of Melissa Hayden former principle dancer with the New York City Ballet under the direction of George Balanchine. The weekend consists of master classes and rehearsals culminating in a performance on Sunday Feb. 24 at the Steven’s Center in Winston Salem.

SBT will be one of 20 companies from the area participating in this year’s festival.

The dancers will perform the opening sequence from the recent Cirque 2001 staged this past November.
