Plant Sale Benefits Beautification

The Holly Branch of the Pinehurst Garden Club is in charge of the garden clubs annual plant sale, Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the village parking lot next to the Given Memorial Library.

A large variety of flowers are being offered again this year to brighten up your summer garden. Flats of impatiens containing 36 plants each will be available in pink, white, salmon, rose and scarlet red as well as mixed colors. Green-leaved begonias in pink and white will also be available with bronze leaf begonias in mixed and pink. All flats of impatiens, begonias and vinca will be $9, the same price as last year.

Red and pink geraniums in six-inch pots can also be ordered in advance for $4.50. Sales reps from the five garden club branches will be busy taking pre-orders for plants to be picked up the day of the sale. Specialty plants including herbs and various flowering plants in hanging baskets will be sold the day of the sale. All plants are from the Sunnyside Greenhouses.

Proceeds from the sale benefit community beautification projects and fund two horticultural scholarships at Sandhills Community College. For further information contact Rene Ellis at 295-1607, Alice Wood at 295-1621 or Peggy Schirmer at 295-1898.
