Foxfire Holds Party for Children

With the fire engine’s siren blaring, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus (John and Connie Monds) and their Elf (Karen Ramey) rode throughout Foxfire Village on a recent Saturday afternoon, inviting all the Village children to follow them to the Town Hall for the second annual Kids’ Christmas Party. The celebration was the idea of Beth Gregory and Helen Munro, and was sponsored by the Foxfire Property Owners’ Association.

As the party-goers entered the Town Hall, they were served hot chocolate, prepared by Gladys Knight. They also had choices from a vast array of Christmas cookies, all baked by Garden Club members. And they were offered several interesting projects to make: pinecone bird feeders, taught by Lydia Conard and Helen Munro; colorful paper chains for their Christmas trees, taught by Jordan Johnson; and pretzel or rice cake bird feeders, demonstrated by Claire Bryant.

“The most popular corner of the room was the one in which Santa Claus sat,” said a spokesman. “He gently held each child on his lap and listened to Christmas wishes. As they left they were given candy canes by the lovely Elf.”
