Browns Backers

The Cleveland Browns Backers of the Sandhills, meet every time the Browns play a game. The local chapter meets at Brook’s Club, 155 N.E. Broad Street in Southern Pines.

The last game of the season at Brook’s Club is Sunday, Jan. 2, at 1 p.m.; the opponents are the Houston Texans.

Aberdeen H and G

Members of the Aberdeen Home and Garden Club met on Dec. 21, at Roslyn’s Restaurant for their annual Christmas luncheon.

Grace Brigman, Marge Gschwind, and Elease Goodwin were hostesses for the event. They presented each member with a Christmas ornament.

Kim Clark introduced her daughters, Catherine and Ashtyn Clark, ages seven and nine respectively, who entertained the group with a variety of selections on their violins. Their grandmother, Ella Ruth Clark, was program chairman for the luncheon.

Knollwood-Midland

The Knollwood-Midland Garden Club had its Christmas luncheon on Friday, Dec. 3, at Roslyn’s at Midland, with entertainment provided by the Sandbaggers Quartet from the Golf Capital Chorus.

On Friday, Nov. 5, the annual garden club tour was attended by a group, who visited Seagrove Orchids at Seagrove.

The tour of the orchid greenhouse and a demonstration of their care was led by Linda Thorne. Lunch was at Westmoore Family Restaurant.

“There will be no meeting of the club in January, but remember to come to the Visitors Center at SCC on Friday, Feb. 4, at 1 p.m. for ‘Gardening for Hummingbirds,’” said a spokesman.
