Fairway Notebook: Ladies Play Tourney

Pinehurst: The Women’s Golf Association played a Nassau game using one best ball on odd holes and two best balls on even holes Dec. 17 on Course No. 1. Barbara Raugh, Maggie Langley, Aurele Timken and Maureen Reeves were the overall winners with a 92.

Silvia Bisbe, Josie Bunting, Nan Cunningham and Therese Witczak were second with a 94 in a match of cards with Ruth Ertel, Jimmie Hepner, Nan Wood and Roberta Kachel.

Anne Burton. Jane Forsyth, Norma Cappelletti and Ellie Ray were first on the front nine. Elizabeth Morgan, Louise Weiss, Mary Lou Sutter and Andrea Wells were second with a 43.

Pat Colburn, Irene Corbin, Rita Rocchi and Pat Green were first on the back nine with a 47. Sue Ferretti, Elsie Jasinski, Cathy Hamblen and Shirley Potter were second with a 49.

Seven Lakes: The 18-Hole Ladies Golf Association’s officers for 2005 are Beverly Needler, president; Lois Schliepsiek, vice president, Helen Yedziniak, treasurer; Mary Pagano, secretary, Jule Thorton, tournament chairwoman; and June Hale, ex officio.

Whispering Pines: A Winter Twilight tournament was played Dec. 17 on the River Course front nine using a modified captain's choice.

Stafford and Jo Thornton and Jack and Mary Jakucyk were first with a 25.25.

Len and Millie Mills and Jerry and Sandy Gerdes were second with a 26.25. Chris and Joyce Reitler and Jim and Elke Phillingane were third with a 28.
