Moore Chamber Wins Award

The Moore County Chamber of Commerce has received the 2004 American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) 21st annual Award for Communications Excellence (ACE) for the 2004-2006 quality of life publication, Lifestyles.

The entries receiving the coveted ACE Award for Excellence surpass the fundamental standards and criteria for communications excellence, the Chamber said.

The Awards for Communica-tions Excellence (ACE) is an annual competition that recognizes excellence in all areas of communications. ACE continues to be the vehicle for the Chamber community to promote effective Chamber communications as well as highlight initiatives, introduce events and inform members.

“The ACE Awards are a tangible reminder of the high caliber of communication programs created by Chambers all across the country,” said Elyse Hillegass, president and CEO of the Moore County Chamber of Commerce. “Regardless of a Chamber’s size or resources, a professional execution based on a strategic foundation delivers solid results and provides a valuable example and benchmark for fellow communicators throughout the country.”

Mark Fleming, president of ACCE said the association “is proud to honor, reward and celebrate the achievements of outstanding communication programs, campaigns and projects in the Chamber industry.”

This year’s ACE competition drew 250 entries from more than 125 Chambers throughout the country.

Forty judges spent more than 300 hours judging and providing comprehensive feedback for each participant. Judges’ backgrounds included experiences in the fields of public relations, printing, design, special events planning, fund raising, journalism, economic development, Web design and public policy.

“We are very excited to have been selected to receive this award,” Hillegass said. “The Chamber membership has grown substantially over the past several years, and because of the numerous new value added services, we anticipate a strong continued growth.

“We look forward to continuing to build the momentum the Chamber has been developing over the last several years. We truly thank our members for their contribution to the community.”

Established in 1914, ACCE is the only national association serving the professional development needs of individuals managing Chambers of Commerce throughout the United States and Canada. Representing more than 5,500 Chamber professionals, ACCE enhances the industry knowledge, leadership kills, and management effectiveness of Chamber executives and their staff though education, trend analysis, benchmarking and best practices.

ACCE promotes the highest standards of professional excellence and integrity within the Chamber industry.
