Thompson Visits Father for Birthday Celebration

Judith Thompson, Ph.D., of Merrimac, Mass., visited her father, Lamont Thompson, in Belle Meade recently. She is a professional peace builder who serves on the board of Vermont’s Karuna Center for Peace Building. She is a past Peace Fellow from Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Studies, and a co-founder of Children of War.

She is now enroute to Berlin and Sarajevo to participate in peace dialogues with other concerned citizens of the world. The current issue of Rift Magazine features an article that outlines her views of some of the problems the world faces in its pursuit of a peaceful feature.

This is part of what Dr. Thompson says in the article: “Human nature as a whole has been saturated by unhealed wounding, which, if un-checked, will continue on a downward spiral toward inevitable disintegration. Transitioning from violence to just futures is no easy journey. The complexity lies between truth, justice, peace and mercy. All of these are necessities for healing and none can be ignored.”

She was joined at Belle Meade by her sisters, Ruth Thompson of Washington, D.C., and Beth Black of Orlando, Fla., to help celebrate their father’s birthday.
