Congressman Howard Coble made the announcement Thursday in an address to Moore County Republican MenÕs Club meeting at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst.
Coble said the money is an FAA discretionary grant.
Michael Nash, speaking on behalf of the Airport Authority, said that work on apron repairs would begin in a couple of months and would take about one month to complete. He said the $200,000 would be used to repair cracks and tears in the apron.
In his talk at CCNC, Coble said he had just received notification from the FAA about the grant.
ÒI am pleased that we are able to announce this worthwhile funding program today while we are in Moore County,Ó Coble said. ÒWe have been working with airport officials for some time to bring needed service to the airport, and this grant will allow us to continue working toward that goal.Ó
Coble represents the 6th Congressional District, which includes Moore County. He made several stops during his visit to Moore County on Thursday.
