Bears Defeat Mustangs in Girls’ Tennis

The North Moore High School girls’ tennis team lost to Chatham Central in a Yadkin Valley Conference match on Monday at Robbins by a score of 8-1.

The sole winner for the Mustangs was Sandy Boles, playing at the fourth singles position. Boles won a close decision in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (8-6), over Amanda Wilkins.

Chatham Central captured five of the six singles matches to win the match.

“They have a good team,” said Mustang coach Cheryl Brewer. “There are a lot of things we have to work on, but we’ll continue to improve.”

North Moore’s record dropped to 2-2, while Chatham Central’s is now 3-1.

Singles — Erin Leonard (CC) defeated Caitlin Forrest 8-3; Katie Liles (CC) def. Lindsay Melton 8-2; Kimberly Fox (CC) def. Mollie Richardson 8-5; Sandy Boles (NM) def. Amanda Wilkins 9-8 (8-6 tiebreaker); Carolyn Liles (CC) def. Ashley Hunsucker 8-0; Allayna Lopossay (CC) def. Jenny Kearns 8-2.

Doubles — Leonard-K. Liles (CC) def. Forrest-Melton 8-5; Fox-Wilkins (CC) def. Richardson-Boles 8-6; C. Liles-Lopossay (CC) def. Corey Wright-Adrian Boles 8-0.
