Plans Under Way for Something Moore Sale

Something Moore, the Arts Council of Moore County’s fabulous, biennial treasure chest tag sale, is scheduled for Sept. 10-12, at 301 Fields Drive in Aberdeen (corner of Hwy. 5 & Fields Drive, beside Café Mediterraneo). Something Moore is a fundraiser that benefits ACMC’s programs and services presented throughout the community. Past Something Moore events have enjoyed wonderful participation by the entire community. Everyone has a good time, whether participating as volunteer worker or eager buyer.

If you have items you would like to donate to the sale, you may deliver them to 301 Fields Drive, Aberdeen on Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For heavy/bulky items, call 295-5587/692-4356 to schedule a pick up. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please call Mabel Barker at 295-5587, or just stop by the sale location.

“Remember your Arts Council when disposing of no longer wanted, tax-deductible items such as: antiques, works of art, art materials, china, crystal, pottery, jewelry, furniture and accessories, electric appliances (large and small), computers (hard and software), television, stereo and radio equipment and accessories, cameras,” says Barker, chairman of the event.

All electronic appliances must be in good working condition. Also wanted gardening tools, pots, plants, outdoor furniture, kitchen items (pots, pans, coffee makers, toasters and toaster ovens, cutlery, etc.). Other items needed: Rugs, books, toys, musical instruments, silver (hollow and flatware), bric-a-brac, decorative items, exercise equipment, luggage and whatever else you may have.

For the first chance to purchase a new treasure, the Something Moore Preview Party will take place on Friday, Sept. 10 (6:30 p.m.) and is $25 (per person) for ACMC members and $30 for nonmembers. The party features live entertainment, great food, and “first crack” at all the “goodies”, before public sale, at 20 percent mark-up. The public sale is scheduled for Saturday, Sept.11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a half-price sale on Sunday, Sept. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. and an auction from 3 to 4 p.m. The public sale and clearance sale are free and open to the public.

Barker looks forward to a “record-breaker” and joins ACMC in thanking everyone for once again participating in one of the community’s most popular events!
