Hockey Registrations Under Way

The Sandhills In-Line Hockey League (SIHL) is currently accepting registrations for the 2004 fall season. No experience in the sport is necessary, but space is limited for the league for boys and girls ages five through 17.

A 12-game season (two games per week) starts on Monday, September 27 ending with a tournament for ages 11 and over on November 19 through 22. New player evaluations will be held on Thursday, September 2 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Pinecrest High School rink.

The SIHL is dedicated to the healthy development of children. Good sportsmanship is demanded in a safe and positive environment. Parents are a very important part of the league and are invited to get involved. Required equipment includes a helmet with a protective mask, elbow pads, knee pads, shin guards, mouth guard, jock strap, hockey gloves, hockey stick and in-line skates.

Play It Again Sports in Fayetteville offers the SIHL a 10-percent discount (910-860-8100).

For more information including how to obtain a registration form, call Jeff or Marybeth Clark at 295-7446. The registration fee is $30. Checks should be made out to the SIHL and mailed to PO Box 4561, Pinehurst, N. C. 28374.
