Foods available include apple juice, corn cereal, trail mix, beef (ground and frozen), pudding cups, vegetable oil, beef stew, corn, frozen blueberries and tomatoes.
The agency will distribute the commodities from one central location, the Moore County Cooperative Extension Office on Pinehurst Avenue in Carthage, which is located behind the Moore County Health Department.
The site is open from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. or until all the food is distributed.
According to a SCAP spokesman, quantities are limited and every household will not receive every item.
Eligible recipients who may be unable to attend the distribution may send a family member of friend to pick up the food. In order to do this, the person picking up the food must bring a note signed by the client who will receive the food showing the client’s name, address and monthly income, as well as the name of the appointed person to pick up the food.
Clients who are over 60 years of age and homebound and do not have a family member of friends who can pick up the food and advised to call (910) 947-5675.
People who receive food stamps but cannot come to the distribution may also receive their food by writing the name of the person picking up the food on the food commodity card in the space provided and send the card with the person to the distribution site.
