Postal Employees Conduct Food Drive

The employees of the post offices in West End, Robbins, Jackson Springs and Eagle Springs will be conducting a food drive to benefit the Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care on Tuesday, Aug. 19.

Postal customers residing in those areas are asked to leave donations of non-perishable food items in their mailboxes with the flags raised. Suggested items are spaghetti sauce, pasta, cereal, tuna, canned stew, macaroni and cheese, instant mashed potato flakes, canned juice, canned soup, canned fruit, canned vegetables and one pound packages of rice.

Donations will also be accepted in the lobbies of the indicated post offices.

The food drive is being conducted to replace the depleted stores of food at the Coalition caused by the unprecedented needs for additional food by Moore County residents. Recent economic conditions and job layoffs in Moore County have prompted requests for food.

For information, call Harold Jones, the West End postmaster, at 673-8041 or Florrie Southerland, director of the Coalition.
