Classes
Creating Four Styles of Faux Marble Finish with Eileen Strickland is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with one hour for lunch at a cost of $40 for members and $50 for non-members. This class is limited to 10 students.
Painting the Head in Watercolor with Raymond Reid is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an hour for lunch at a cost of $30 for members and $40 for non-members. There is a limit of 12 for this class.
Interior and Exterior Perspective with Joanne Gill Worth is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with an hour for lunch at a cost of $25 for members and $35 for non-members. The limit for this class is 12.
Beginning Watercolor with Mike D’Andrea is scheduled for Aug. 27, 28, 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an hour for lunch at a cost of $80 for members and $90 for non-members. The limit for this class is 12.
Workshops
A $50 deposit is required at registration for all workshops. The balance is due one month before the workshop begins.
Oil painting with Charles Gruppe will be held September 8, 9, 10, 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a cost of $250 for members and $300 for non-members. The class is limited to 25 participants.
The Business of Art in the Technological Age with Luana Luconi-Winner is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $50 for members and $65 for non-members. A booklet is included in the fee.

Adult Classes
Tea Time: Thursdays, August 7-28, 6-8pm, $55– Students must provide own tools. If working on the wheel students must be able to center & pull up a form on the wheel. Learn how to make teapot parts & what makes a good teapot. Then make one of your own by hand building or working on the wheel.
Potters’ Studio: Saturdays, August 2-30, 1:30-4pm, $85– Students must provide own tools. Come to the potters’ studio, an unstructured class for you to work on your own projects. Instructor will be available for help & discussion.
Workshop
Survey of Cone 10 Glazes: Saturday, Sept. 13, 9am-5pm, $65-Non-Member, $50 NCPC Member. John Britt presents an overview of cone 10 glazes, including classifications such as celadon, shino, copper red, temmoku, ash & more! You’ll see samples & receive handouts of recipes, firing schedules, & glaze analysis. This is a lecture & slide workshop; there will be no firing or mixing of glazes. Lunch will be provided.

The Weatherspoon Art Museum in Greensboro presents “There is No Eye: Photographs by John Cohen,” the first retrospective exhibition by the artist and musician who inspired the Grateful Dead song “Uncle John’s Band,” through August 17. Ballroom Dancers of the Sandhills club holds dances at the Olde West End Gym on Sept. 5 and 19; Oct. 3, 17 and 31; Nov. 14; Dec. 5 and 19. From Jan.–May 2004 the dances will be held on the first and third Fridays. Aug. 3, 3 p.m.: Snakes of the Sandhills. The 21st annual snake program will be held at the Visitor’s Center. It is designed to dispel the myths and tell the true story about the lives of one of nature’s unique groups of animals.
Aug. 10, 3 p.m.: Sandhills Squirrels-Nature’s Nutcrackers. Meet in the auditorium for a short talk on the adaptations and life histories of flying, fox and gray squirrels, then join the ranger for a short half-mile hike to look for fox squirrels.
Aug. 17, 3 p.m.: Hoppers, Climbers, Swimmers. This program will be held in the auditorium and will focus on some of the more than 20 species of frogs and toads that inhabit the region, from the tiny grass frog to the great bullfrog.
Aug. 24, 3 p.m.: Our State Symbols. Join a park ranger for a program in the auditorium followed by a short hike. Learn about our state symbols, including bird, insect and reptile, as well as our state’s toast, motto and nicknames.
Aug. 31, 3 p.m.: Fire in the Pines. Learn about the important ecological process of prescribed fire to mimic natural fires through a short slide talk and staff demonstration. The program concludes with a short walk to a recently burned area.

Senior Theater Class: for those who feel that memorization is no longer a personal strength, but still crave the theatrical experience. A class meets at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday or one hour each day. A reader’s theatre production is scheduled in early May for that group. The cost is $50 per month.
