According to a Sheriff’s Department report, Jennifer K. Hurd, 26, fired two shots from a .22 caliber pistol about 3:45 a.m. Saturday. One of the shots allegedly struck Paul Richard LeBlanc, 31, of Sanford in the leg. He received treatment for the wound but would not allow rescue workers to transport him to the hospital.
According to sheriff’s deputies, she was helping her sister, Rachael Michelle Hurd, 19, take her son away from LeBlanc. LeBlanc is Rachael Hurd’s ex-boyfriend and the father of the child.
LeBlanc was staying at a friend’s house in Vass. The sister’s did take the boy, deputies said.
Deputies charged Jennifer Hurd with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, first-degree kidnapping and assault by pointing a gun.
Rachael Hurd was charged with felony aiding and abetting Jennifer Hurd in committing attempted murder and kidnapping. Deputies also charged her with breaking and entering.
Jennifer Hurd was jailed under a $30,000 secured bond. Rachael Hurd has a $15,000 secured bond. Their first court date is Aug. 29.
Cocaine Charges: Aberdeen police have made several cocaine arrests in the last two weeks.
Over the weekend, police arrested Frank Junior Jones of Southern Pines and charged him with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle to sell a controlled substance and possession of a stolen firearm. He was arrested in the Town and Country shopping center.
Police also arrested Katie Marie Mishue of Southern Pines and charged her with possessing drug paraphernalia in the same shopping center.
On Friday, officers arrested Thaddeus Wendell Penne, 36, and charged him with possession of cocaine after a routine traffic stop.
On Aug. 7, Aberdeen Police arrested Carlton Nevonn Terry and Paul Lamont Harrington, both of Aberdeen, and charged them with trafficking cocaine.
Breaking and Entering: Pinehurst police arrested Ronald Lee Faircloth, 36, of Parkton on Aug. 12 and charged him with a Dec. 19 break-in to two homes owned by Womack Construction Co. and stealing two Kenmore stoves worth $500 apiece.
Faircloth is the third person charged in connection with this break-in. He was given a custody release and has a Wednesday court hearing.
Also, Moore County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Candor man for allegedly breaking into an Eagle Springs storage shed and stealing tools.
Deputies said they found Robert Anthony Chambers, 40, in possession of a weed eater, lawn mower, air compressor and jumper cables that were stolen from the shed.
Chambers signed a written promise to appear in court Thursday.
Larceny: Sheriff’s deputies arrested Carlton Floyd, 49 of Pinehurst on Aug. 12 and charged him with an April 9 larceny.
Floyd is charged with stealing a china cabinet, two wicker chairs, two china dolls and a washing machine worth a $3,200.
Floyd has a $5,000 unsecured bond and his first court hearing is Thursday.
