Area swimmers took to the water recently in the inaugural Moore County Summer Swim League Championships held at The O’Neal School.

Three teams competed in the championships July 27. The meet came at the conclusion of a two-month season featuring squads from the Country Club of North Carolina, the Seven Lakes Squids and the Sandhills Sandsharks.

During the season, each team played host at a meet held at their respective pools.

Winners during the championship meet included Casey Cooper, Quinn Garrett, Rachael Bradford, Doug Johnson, Elizabeth Tem, Eric Shinn and Stephanie Sims.

Other winners included Michael Tem, Linsey Fowler, Chris Penland, Zeb Bullock, Jessica Dejak, Kim Griffin, Robert Debernard, Josh Tucker and William Bradford.

Rounding out the winners were Summer Dalrymple, Sara Sparks, Jessica Rothbeind, Kellyann Jessup, Jennifer Broker and Chris Melone.

The Sandsharks swim team will resume its fall program this month. Team placement will be held Aug. 24 through 26 from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m at The O’Neal School.
