Long story, cut short:
A lady from Pinehurst praised Richard Morgan for the nice man he is. He knew everyone by name and never forgot a face, unlike other prominent Republicans in this county. She named one man in particular. She said she’d been introduced to him several times, but away from political functions he’d forgotten who she was.
I said I can do you one better. We went to private elementary school together, Richard Morgan and I, with no more than 40 students in the whole school. We also went to high school together.
We were friends, but in the last so many years, since right after he became political, he somehow has forgotten my name. Well, needless to say, the lady was shocked and surprised.
I told her that I knew the reason for his lapse in memory. I don’t have big money, I’m just a working girl, I can’t help him advance socially or politically, and I certainly don’t need any favors from him.
The moral of this story is, if you don’t have anything that Richard Morgan wants or needs, then you’re just not important enough for him to remember you. How many chances does a man like that deserve to serve people he can’t even remember?
