The combination of food, art, music and a pleasant May evening will set the stage on the grounds at Weymouth Center for Arts and Humanities in Southern Pines. This year, Mark Elliott of Elliott’s on Linden will be catering the event by providing dinner as well as wine and cheese in the garden prior to dinner.
Jane Casnellie, a prominent artist, will be displaying a number of her art works. Nine additional artists, whose names will be announced later this month, will be displaying their work which will include watercolor, oils and other mediums. All the art work will be available for purchase, and the artists will be in attendance. Live music will be presented by the Mellow Jazz Quartet.
Casnellie is a self-taught artist who has enjoyed a wide range of artistic pursuits. The creative process has always been an important part of her life, and she incorporates her life experiences and travels into her art work. Her current focus is oil painting and her repertoire includes European landscapes, expressive florals, unusual still life and pet portraits. She currently owns and operates Hollyhocks Art Gallery located at Pinehurst Place on Linden Road.
Mark Elliott has created Elliott’s on Linden for fine dining. He is currently expanding the restaurant business with a retail store which offers kitchen essentials.
This event, which will benefit Weymouth Center to further the maintenance and restoration of the house and gardens, is chaired by Barbara Johnson with the co-chairs Jane Casnellie and Kathy Evans.
