Knollwood-Midland Club Holds Fashion Show

The annual luncheon and fashion show for the Knollwood-Midland Garden Club was held at the Pinehurst Members Club on Friday, April 2.

After a brief social time, Ann Millan offered a prayer for the lunch of roma tomato bisque, country club trio salad, Pinehurst muffins and Granny Smith apple pie with ice cream.

President Kathryne Ann Kinsey greeted all those in attendance, including several guests, and then introduced Mim Pierce (fashion show co-chair with Lucy Patterson) who did the commentary for the fashion show.

Fashions were provided by the Faded Rose of Pinehurst and Isarose of Southern Pines — Sherry Mortensen, proprietor, and Valeria Laszlo, co-worker.

The theme, “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” with beautiful and imaginative spring and summer attire, gave everyone a real spiritual lift.

Delightful piano accompaniment was provided by Gerry Tobias as the following club members modeled: Peg Baran, Margene Chapman, Pat Feeney, Dee Fordree, Jane Klotzbach, Carol Linthicum, Helen Mannion, Joe Anne O’Donnell, Marilyn Ragan and Barb Toler. Each table’s centerpiece of a miniature rose bush in a basket became a door prize to the lucky winners.

The May meeting for Knollwood-Midland Garden Club will be held at the Visitors Center at SCC on Friday, May 7 at 1 p.m. with the program, “Creative Water Creations,” presented by William Pace. This will be the last meeting of the year, except for the annual “Potluck Dinner” on May 21 at 6 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
