STC Schedules ‘Rumplestilkin’
The Sandhills Theatre Company is bringing a timeless fairy tale to life for children ages 4 through 8.
A special production of “Rumplestilkin” will be presented at various outdoor locations in Moore County over the course of the next month. The first performance is Saturday, April 17 at 10 a.m. at the Carthage Amphitheatre.
Other scheduled performances are:
Saturday, May 1 at 10 a.m., Aberdeen Lake
Saturday, May 8 at 10 a.m., Cannon Park in Pinehurst. Co-sponsored by Pinehurst Parks and Recreation
Saturday, May 22 at 10 a.m. The grassy lawn beside the Sunrise Theatre in Southern Pines. Co-sponsored by the Arts Council of Moore County
The director and adaptor for this delightful tale is Mitch W. Butts, who has spent the past 33 years in theatre, in films and in television. He has toured with the North Carolina Theatre in “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” and with The Backroads Theatre Company’s “Hansel & Gretel” and “Rumplestiltskin.” His television credits include “Matlock,” “Dawson’s Creek,” and “Rescue 911” and he has appeared in films such as “The Bedroom Window,” “Collision Course,” “The Portrait” and “Firestarter.”
Cast members for “Rumplestilkin” include Sandra Epperson, Phil Hewett, Christine Storrs, Art Rimbert, Jr. and Sharon Sandberg, with Chelsea Scott acting as stage manager. Carpet for use as a stage has been donated by Southern Carpet and Interiors of Pinehurst. The performances are open to the public at no charge; however, free-will contributions will be accepted.
