Coalition for Human Care Elects Officers at Meeting
The Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care held its annual meeting earlier this year at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Southern Pines.
The 2003 slate of officers and board members were accepted as follows: president, Catherine Nichols; vice president, Bob Harling; secretary, Kate DeVaughn; treasurer, Nancy Costantini; assistant treasurer, Joan Lewis; directors of resale shop, Cris and Florrie Crisafulli, the Rev. Steve McElroy, director of volunteers, Gert Strine; director of personnel, Jack Diffily; at large members, MaryAnne Nugent, Mary Arno , Maureen Tansey and Jackie Ingram.
The function of the coalition is to provide emergency assistance. Thousands of families in the community have received food, clothing, heat, help with medical bills and emergency medications, housing and much more.
The coalition relies almost entirely on volunteers who donate their time once or twice a month in a variety of departments such as greeting, screening, food, clothing, transportation and resale.
The nonprofit coalition also relies on donations of household items to be sold in the Resale Shop. Of particular need are all types of furniture, appliances and electrical equipment, such as microwaves, which are in good working condition. Non-perishable food is always in great need as well as clean, seasonal clothing and footwear. Monetary donations are always needed and greatly appreciated.
The phone for additional information is 693-1600. The coalition is located at 1117 West Pennsylvania Ave. in Southern Pines.
The Coalition for Human Care is a United Way agency. |
