Vansant Earns State Outstanding Volunteer Award

Eileen Vansant was presented the Mary Jane Kistler Award, one of four major awards presented to outstanding volunteers by the North Carolina Association for Community Education at the Annual NCACE Awards Ceremony in Raleigh on Thursday, April 10. The award was presented by Brad Sneeden, Deputy State Superintendent of Education and Terri Hedrick, President of NCACE.

The Mary Jane Kistler Volunteer Award is given to an individual who is an outstanding volunteer and has made a significant impact on the promotion and advancement of community education.

Eileen has volunteered in Moore County Schools for four years and has made a significant impact on the promotion and advancement of community education.

Linda Hubbard, volunteer coordinator, Moore County Schools nominated Vansant for the award and attended the presentation ceremony with Anita Alpenfels, Director of Public Information and Community Services for Moore County Schools.

Also attending were her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jack Damron of Southern Pines.

This is the second state award won by Vansant this year.

Last October she was honored by being one of five recipients of the Governor’s North Carolina Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service.

Vansant volunteers at Southern Pines Elementary School two days a week and is active working with youth at the Southern Pines United Methodist Church.
