The O’Neal Upper School Key Club started off the Easter fun filled week on Tuesday, April 15, with a hunt for the four younger classes on the playground of the center. The next day, the playground was again set for the hunt for the three older classes by the 51 eighth graders of the O’Neal Middle School, who then fed the famished hunters with a delicious pizza lunch.
The last class traveled to find their (egg) prey, to the hunting grounds of the Alterra Sterling House where the local residents lent their egg-hunting knowledge to the inexperienced hunters of Sandhills Children’s Center.
The generosity of the three groups (and, of course, the Easter Bunny) ensured that every child who attends Sandhills Children’s Center got to share in the spirit and traditions of the Easter holiday.
Since 1970, Sandhills Children’s Center has provided educational, healthcare and therapeutic services to more than 100 children each year with sensory impairments, mental retardation and other developmental disabilities from Moore, Richmond and surrounding counties, in an inclusive and loving environment, located in Southern Pines.
Year after year, the center, its staff and students are blessed by the support and kindness (and the chocolate) of it’s community through different events, holiday celebrations, and the many volunteers.
