A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Chapel of the Sandhills with the Rev. Ben Lawson and the Rev. Bruce Frye officiating.
Born May 23, 1930, in Hoke County to the late Coy and Mamie Tyner Ferguson, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served as a gunner on the U.S.S. Midway.
He owned and operated Johnny's Bar & Grill in Southern Pines for many years and later owned the Golden Pizza, Sizzlin’ Barn and Dockside.
Later, he moved to Long Beach for retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Georgia “Tootsie” Ferguson; a son, Johnny Ferguson of Southern Pines; daughters, Michelle F. Tew and Debbi Ferguson, both of Aberdeen; a brother, Carl Ferguson of Groveland, Fla.; three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the FirstHealth Cancer CARE Fund, 150 Applecross Rd., Pinehurst NC 28374-8520.
Boles Funeral Home and Crematory in Southern Pines is handling arrangements for the family.
