O’Neal Stops Academy In Boys’ Tennis Action

O’Neal has been pretty successful this season in playing Fayetteville Academy in tennis.

Although the Falcons have only played two matches this season, both have been against Fayetteville Academy and both have been wins.

Playing at Dark Branch Tennis Club in Fayetteville on Tuesday, the Falcons picked up a 6-3 win in running their record to 2-0.

Senior Will Atwater and freshman Sam Stewart each won singles and doubles matches to lead the Falcons. O’Neal led 4-2 after the completion of the six singles matches and took two out of three in doubles.

Fayetteville Academy fell to 1-4.

After playing at Hale Thursday, the Falcons stay on the road t9o play Oak Ridge Military on Tuesday.

Singles — Marc Subin (O) defeated Jordan Jones 6-3, 6-1; Will Atwater (O) def. Chris Appel 7-6, 6-0; John Fales (FA) def. Will Crawley 6-4, 6-3; Bo Howe (O) def. Bryce Bordone 4-6, 6-2, 6-2; Michael Deldo (FA) def. Simon Cagle 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 tiebreaker; Sam Stewart (O) def. Vishal Dhandha 6-3, 6-0.

Doubles — Jones-Appel (FA) def. Subin-Howe 8-5; Atwater-Crawley (O) def. Bordone-Deldo 8-5; Cagle-Stewart (O) def. Fales-Nick Thrassel 9-8 (8-3).
