Open Player Is Expecting

Brenda Corrie Kuehn qualified for the 2001 U.S. Women’s Open Championship — even though she was 7˝ months pregnant.

If her physician gives the OK Thursday, Kuehn, of Asheville, will play in the Open next week at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club.

Kuehn qualified May 8, shooting a 71 at the Standard Club in Atlanta. She admits that her condition affects her game. “I can’t finish my swing,” she says, “so my distance isn’t as great.”
